Why Singaporean dont want to give birth....that contribute to declining birth rate....
By dew @ 11:46 PM :: 862 Views :: 10 Comments :: :: The Young Ones, Women, General

1) Everything price go up except salary. That is very sad and stressing.
2) Stress up, boss expectation up, life expectations up, except husband and wife sex life down. Husband and wife totally worn out from work. No time to entertain my babies.
3) living cost escalated too fast and too high for middle to low income group to cope.No proportion rate of income to cope with this increment of life expenses.
4) Longer working hours that already put people so tired to have barely enough sleep.
5) If not armed with qualification papers or degrees, one might not have basic survival skill in Singapore, which take longer time to set up family.
6) To get married, one need a lot of money. To get all requirements and things and ceremony and dinner, by Singapore standard and traditional customs.
One can said like no money, no wedding. one might as well don't marry then no headache.
7)Even so, to have a baby. Also, have so much hidden cost. That one cannot even imagine.
8)All the milk, diapers, food, clothings, toys, educational things can set me back to at least $800 per month. Now my big baby school fee and schoolbus is already $ 1880 per month. after school fee subsidied by govt, I have to pay the school fee approximately $ 900 plus excluding schoolbus $180 (2 ways journey).total for nursery class: S$1080 per month. Two Babies education and life insurance S$1200 per month.
9) Every month just for my two babies, I spent almost S$3000. my whole salary go to my two babies. No matter how much i love or like to have another third or fourth baby, I cannot afford them at all.
Unless, government fully subsidized the education school fees regardless of any school (private and PAP). Also, Very big bonus to pay for baby expenses.
10) Most of my friends or colleagues (Age 21 -35) can't even afford to marry. They can't even have afford a HDB flat downpayment.
11) Most of them can't even think to have any children, coz they cannot afford to survive by themselves, not even mention to pay for the babies expenses and school.
12) The only way I can think of is don't live and work in Singapore. Migrate to a slower pace country to live and work and have more babies there. At least, I know I won't die early of work suffocation and be even happier.Coz' we can afford the living.

Suggestions :
1) Bigger Bonus $ 12K each for 1st.(immediately upon baby delivery).Coz money is needed to pay even before delivery. No money no baby/ services.
F.Y.I.( My first child cost me approximately $15 K in total for all the things, from check up to normal baby delivery to hospital charges to pram to diapers to clothings to milk to post natal massage to post natal aunty to post - groceries to tonics to a maid for first three months after birth only.)
2) 2nd child S$ 15k.
2) 3rd child S$18K.
3) 4th child:S$21K.
4) Fully subsidized school fee. Regrdless private or govt PAP.From Nursery to Polyechnics or JC. Only for Singaporean only.
5) At least half subsidized fees of private baby doctor fee for babies and toddlers under 6 years old.
Biggest hidden cost. My baby doctor S$120 to S$150 per visit. At first, my baby can sick for almost twice or thrice a month. Every month, has to put aside S$450 at least for baby doctor fees. Worst case, normal GP doctors regardless which clinic, cannot cure baby sickness. No choice, I have to send him to baby clinic that cost a bomb!
6) Lower downpayment for newly married couples. S$3000.etc.
7) Subsidy for the young parents of three and four babies buying cars for family.
8) No monthly maid tax for parents having babies.
