Indiscriminate burning of incense
By Songsong @ 9:43 PM :: 413 Views :: 8 Comments :: :: General

While we are aggressively tackling forest fire in our neighboring country, promoting CNG cars to reduce emission, impose strict check on factories pollution, we fail to see our nearest source of pollution which is the indiscriminate burning of incense. You talk to any foreigners down the street and they will tell you that this is one of the greatest myths they do not understand in a clean and green country like Singapore.

Indiscriminate burning of incense has created problem in our neighborhood. While I understand the religious needs (as I’m a Chinese) but I feel that we could do more to impose control and restriction to improve the situation. Some of the possibility would be providing “incense can” with filter system. And these “incense can” can be located in distance of 50m away from any flats so as to further reduce disturbance for the residents.
