Dear Sir/Madam,
DIALOGUE ON THE ECONOMIC STRATEGIES COMMITTEE
The Economic Strategies Committee (ESC) is set up in June 2009 to develop strategies for Singapore to build capabilities and maximise opportunities as a global city in a new world environment, so as to achieve sustained and inclusive growth.
To achieve wide participation in the Committee's work, the ESC has set up 8 sub-committees, comprising individuals from both the private and public sectors. Each sub-committee will be co-chaired by a member from the public sector, with the other co-chair being from the private sector or labour movement.
Specific areas that the ESC will be looking at include
i. Seizing Growth Opportunities
ii. Developing a Vibrant SME Sector and Globally Competitive Local Companies
iii.Attracting and Rooting MNCs and Foreign SMEs
iv. Growing Knowledge Capital v. Making Singapore a Leading Global City vi. Fostering Inclusive Growth
vii. Ensuring Energy Resilience and Sustainable Growth
viii.Maximising Value from Land as a Scarce Resource
In developing their strategies, the committee wants to bring a wide range of views and fresh ideas. Hence, it is conducting a public consultation exercise to gather the public’s views and recommendations on how to enable sustained economic growth, faster than other advanced economies, so as to provide opportunities for all.
