TO ARREST INFLATED MOTOR CLAIMS
By Raymond Lo Wan Mou @ 6:16 PM :: 710 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: General

Dear Netters,

                      Of late there have been many discussions and letters to the media against General Insurance Association of raising motor insurance premium by at least 20% to 30% next year.

As of now, no one knows for sure which parties - and there are many of them namely, the motorists, workshops, surveyors, doctors, lawyers, insurers themselves et certera are responsible for the inflated and fraudulent claims.

In my personal opinion, one way to deter motorists from such dishonest claims is changes made to accident report  statement. The statement should be in a form of three copies. The original to the respective insurers, the other two are one each for Traffic Police and the motorist himself.

It will be even better if Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) makes these accident statements legally binding. This is possible with strong, vigorous and logical presentations By Case and AA to MAS.

Such a move will be highly deterrence against dishonest stakeholders as they know that laws from both MAS and Traffic Police will be breathing down their necks.

WARMEST REGARDS.

CITIZENS' APPENDUM TO THE PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS
By Raymond Lo Wan Mou @ 3:55 PM :: 745 Views :: 0 Comments :: General
Dear All Singaporeans, Every year our President will deliver his address when Parliament opens after a dissolution. On 18 May 2009, our President had delivered his address of the re-opening of the 11th Session of Parliament. Following the Presidential Address, Government's Ministries will outline their plans and priorities for the coming years in their addendum to the President's Address. All such plans and priorities are formulated towards the improving the lives of the citizens and Singapore as a nation. My point of view is that citizens of Singapore should have one such addenda to thank the President and spell out the responsibilities and duties as important stakeholders of the nation. Perhaps the woman of the year or a distinguished citizen should be our spoke-person after consulting with the many non-government organisations (NGOs) on whatever issue that need citizens to co-operate. After all many government's campaigns have not been very successful be it graciousness, littering, smoking, safety et certera. Perhaps exhortations from one of our every own citizen may work! OVERSIGHT ON MOE REGARDIN AWARE SEX GUIDE
By Raymond Lo Wan Mou @ 5:52 PM :: 890 Views :: 0 Comments :: The Young Ones

Dear Reach Executive,

                                  Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced the suspension of The Aware sexuality educational programme for all main stream schools

                                  I am thoroughly disappointed with MOE on why it takes so long to do this.

                                  They are supposed to be professional educators moulding the future of this nation. Their fundamental responsibility is to nurture our children into good citizens, conscious of their responsibilities to their families, society and country.

                                  Being a cabby and had picked up countless number of times students and youth, I know for a fact that our young ones of both sexes are very aggressive, covetous, disrespectful, destructive and full of expletives and vulgarity whenever they speak- every expression contains the 4 letter word. From some of their conversation, they have given me the impression that they had already engaged in all forms of sex at young age. Is it surprise that there are many teenagers’ abortion nowadays?

                                  Allowing AWARE's sex guide in our mainstream schools for so long wittingly or unwitting by MOE has made the matter worse on our impassionate youth. And please MOE do not tell me that there is an oversight on your part on this important educational programme.

                                  Of course, bad role model and indulgent parents also plays a crucial part on bad development of our young ones.

                                  And why is it that MOE must wait for parents to complain of this unhealthy  sex programme - only then they will review the guideline? Is it not their primary duty as professional educators to do this in the first place?

                                  It is in this aspect that MOE has let down our parents and children in particular, and our society and nation in general.

Warmest Regards

ONLINE DIALOGUE ON TOPICS RAISED BY MAY DAY RALLY SPEECH
By Raymond Lo Wan Mou @ 5:42 PM :: 691 Views :: 0 Comments :: REACH Events/
Activities/Workgroup Activities
Dear Reach Admin.

                                 I wish to thank your organisation of inviting me to participate in yesterday town-hall webchat with  Manpower Gan Kim Yong and Dr Amy Kho (Chairman/REACH Panel) together with 30 other participants on discussion points on PM's May Day Rally Speech. I find that it is useful and exhilarating.

                                  Featuring prominently on this online dialogue  is the unemployment issue.

                                  In my opinion, the fundamental solution of reducing our jobless woes must rely on our economic growth which means that we need to attract multi- national companies' capital investments, setting up of their headquarter offices here, foreign talents, technology transfer,
 et cetera.

                                   As a cabby plying mainly between airport and hotels, I used to ask for feedback from many business foreigners and expats on why they like Singapore either as a place of investments or sight-seeing. I believe Singapore Government may already know the reasons - but coming from the horses' mouths and listing them will do no harm.

                                   First, it is the  good security that we have. They and their family feel safe to do what they like in Singapore at all times.

                                   Second, it is the clean and green environment - a garden city within a 'jungle' setting.

                                   Third, it is our good and low tax system.

                                   Fourth, it is our good infrastructures and strong political leadership.

                                   Last but not the least, it is easy communication with English being the main medium, apart from them mentioning to me about good food in Singapore.

                                    I strongly believe that doing and enhancing these factors will stand us in good state to compete with any country for investments in this globalised world.

WARMEST REGARDS

PS
     By the way I also suggest to your Chairman of REACH Dr Amy Kho to start a campaign on "Pick a litter a day" to set example towards a clean and gracious society like the Japanese. Hopefully she will take up my suggestion.
