It seems to me that there are many commentors who have chosen to remain anonymous.

To me, remaining anonymous has several pros and cons.
1) Anony can be more carefree with their words. There is no accountability.

2) It is very difficult to reply to Anony. I can't tell the difference between Anony and Anony. Both same spelling. This actually hampers discourse. Happened several times so far.

3) Even when Anony signs off with a nickname, it is possbile for another character to impersonate and sign off as exactly the same name.

Call me fussy, but I prefer to reply to registered characters.

But why do some people choose to remain anonymous?
Because registration requires your IC number? Afraid that authorities will track down, pursue, arrest and sue for defamation?
I do not believe that Dr Amy Khor is such a personality. I think she is credible.
Or is the registration process too long and difficult?

Why remain anonymous? Would it help if this website requires email rather than IC number?

leave it lies and maintian this status quo.

We are still not that yet to devleop an assetive citizenry as even during GE2006, that FEAR FACTOR is still very much and truly alive.

I think we are less than a hundred, maybe even less than 20, regular contributors over here.

We are just a miniscule lots in Cyperspace netizen population.

Anonmity is still he best to woo more participants to contribute over here.

But we are first world. How can we be passive citizenry if we are first world?

If we need to woo participants, then we are passive.
Then we cannot be first world.

It is common for forum administrator to track IP addresses. So anony is not really anonymous even though anony may think so.

Hi, Sunfacer Good Evening, I'm not looking for an argument, just highlighting what I have told you in the past threads. :o)

I feel whether we sign in as anonymous or Sunfacer, we both are still anonymous to the General readers. I seriously think that what's more important is the content of the feedback.

By signing off as Forty Something, Son Of Singapore or even Black Knight(that's not me :o) ), I am still giving a name or catch for others as a reference. I am still being serious and responsible for what I'm writing.

I just feel that I can sign off with a catch that relate to the message that I'm trying to bring across, insread of a fix name.

I've great respect for you and several registered contributors, thus, hope you can see from my point of view.

Cheers

Thanks, Forty Something.

I also see your point. I also agree that discussion should be about truth. Rather than arguement. No matter who is talking, or writing. So I agree that the name does not matter.

Whether it's George Bush or Kopitiam uncle. It does not matter.
I understand.

I am merely saying that it presents some problems when it comes to accountability in this website.
Afterall, this forum holds some pretty serious talk.

So, this is a discussion, no clear right or wrong. Don't worry, I won't (and definitely do not have the power to) post your nude pictures or your maid or whatsoever all over the media.
Afterall, the both of us came to give each other respect after a really heated argument. THAT is CONSTRUCTIVE arguement.

With great respect,
