Not only will they track you down, they will also arrest you, lock you up, charge you repeatedly, and if you get to be release on bail, they will order you to report daily at 9am at Police Cantoment Complex for a month including Sunday and public holidays. Just look at what happened to Gopalan Nair when he state his honest but disturbing views on his own blog. (http://singaporedissident.blogspot.com/)

Even if it is 110% confidential, the fact that they give you a numbered voting card what ties back to you IC number is already potential for abuse.
They want to print serialized voting cards for "security reason", fine. Just give them out at random after checking a voters ID. Why must they have specific cards for specific IDs?

Aiyo, u think they are so free to track everyone of us. Please..... serial number is just a reference number for them to do registration lah. If you do nothing wrong, we dun have to be afraid of gahmen.

Who wants to try, say something nasty and not true about the Government and we all see whether it's true that they won't or can't track you down.
I thought they managed to track down our Ex Citizen, presently holding USA Citizenship. Don't forget you've to log in to come to this site. If they can get him, you think they can't get you? It's just that till now, there's no one really out of line for them to take action.
You try stirring up racial issue, or issue threats, I'm quite sure that'll be your last posting. Prove me wrong. Please don't, don't waste your future.

How do you define "wrong"? and behind this "how" there is a "WHO".
You never know to what extent can a political being does to be in perpetual power. GRC grouping, Boundary redefinition and redefinition, differential treatment of preccint, removal of certain quarters of the preccint, etc.
With data mining and some guess work, it is not difficult to know the chance (probability) that YOU as an individual is voting for or against someone in your preccint. And therefore the list of actions to win you over, to influence you, to reward you, to punish you, to remove you, to eliminate you in court, etc.
Never mind is it not 100%, as long as it can be done it shall be done. What is 100% on earth, as long as the measure is effective it shall be carried to "reach out" to these people. And when come the desperate time, desperate measure shall be taken.
Do you think these are not happening? Did you not see the proof of earlier measures?

Aren't we Singaporeans a well-bred bunch of fearful citizens? I think the government had done that exceptionally well. However, I think it was managed so well basically because we are also a bunch of fools, and only have ourselves to blame?
Let us not forget that this country had pledged itself to be a democratic society. I agree that it certainly doesn't help when we are promised that our votes are "strictly confidential" when a serious effort to conceal our identity had not taken place - many might make an alternative choice because they think they are going to get into trouble. It is secondary whether they had the time to check it.
But on the other hand, if we turn fearful because we "think" they do trace us, then we are wasting our only powerful country-given-rights, and can only blame it on our own stupidity...because this shows we can and is willing to be manipulated through instilling fear in us, isn't it? What you ask for, shall be given.
Anonymity in this site shows how many of us are warped in our thought structures, and lending support in anonymity will only breed more fearful Singaporeans. I don't think this is healthy for us, and the younger generation. We need vocalists and people who dare-to-speak.
Let us citizens do our part in education...and not leave it to the hands whom you fear...leave them in the hands whom you respect instead.
